Diabetes in Romania

Statistic data regarding diabetes in Romania

 

In September 2012, there were registered 802827 persons with diabetes. The incidence for the the first nine months of 2012 was of 47505 newly diagnosed persons.

At the end of 2011 there were registered 796.803 (67% urban) persons with diabetes out of which 14.5% were insulin dependent. 2651 (61% urban) were children with diabetes.  In 2011 there was registered an incidence of 64,000 new cases per year, out of which children represented 262 new cases. The age distribution of the diabetes population was 3% between 0-14 years old, 62%  between 15-64 years old and  35% over 64 years old.

The National Programme for Diabetes

 

Services, medication and devices needed for treating diabetes are regulated by the National Diabetes Programme developed by the Ministry of Health and updated yearly.
