Support for members

[back]

The Federation is as strong as its members are, so we invest a lot in supporting the development and proper performace of our member organizations. We are looking to developing the infrastructure of our members, train the executive teams and the volunteers working for our members, offer opportunities to share good and not so good experiences, learn how other people are dealing with similar issues, embarc in developing and implementing new projects, and share expertise and recognition.

The annual forum

In 2014 the Diabetes Forum was hosted by our member in Timisoara, The Diabetes Association of Timis (3-6 April). Pictures taken during the sessions may be seen here.

As a member of the Romanian Diabetes Federation, our members are invited to the annual Congress of the RDF. For the 2013 Congress held in Iasi you may see some pictures [here]. The participants met with the members of the Federation, the Romanian Association of Diabetes Educators and received training in managing the board and improving communication.

Training

FADR developed an agenda for training the excutive teams of our member associations in order to develop a common language, and improved skills in managing their organizations. The main topics for the training sessions are: effective management of NGOs, effective communication, management of volunteers, project writing, project management, social entreprises and fund raising.

Projects

While each of our members develop and implement their own projects, the Federation developed a number of proposals that will impact all the members. These projects concern the development of new ways to service the individual members via social entreprises, enhance the involvement of the vounteers in reaching the therapeutic goals, working in cooperation with teams from acros the country for national awareness campaigns, as well as supporting the implementation of local projects.

The IDF Congress

In 2015, FADR sent two representatives to the IDF Congress in Canada. This initiative was aimed to increase the visibility of the Romanian Federation, develop new contacts, exchange ideas, make connections and find partners across the IDF membership network. It was a good chance to evaluate the things we take for granted as well as the things we should reach for in the future as well as start new project for the benefit of the persons with diabetes.
