In October 1994, six Romanian associations of persons with diabetes decided to join their efforts under a common umbrella organization: the Romanian Federation of Diabetes Persons' Associations (FADR). The founding members are the Diabetes Association Medias (Sibiu), the Diabetes Associationi Cluj, the Diabetes Association Caras-Severin, Dia-Sib Sibiu, the Diabetes Association from Banat, the Diabetes Association from Arad, and the Romanian Association of Children and Youth with Diabetes. The aim of the new entity was to increase the capacity and potential of the diabetes persons' associations in Romania, to develop a common voice regarding diabetes, to better represent the interests of the persons with diabetes from anywhere in the country, to represent the members in local and international settings.
The Federation supported the establishment of new associations and encouraged existing ones to join. By 2012, FADR had registered 22 members from all over the country. FADR is legally registered as a non governmental organization (CUI 29138401) under the Romanian law.
Our Mission
Our mission is to represent the interests of the Romanian persons with diabetes, to coordinate and facilitate the joint work of Romanian Diabetes Persons' Associations, and to reprezent them at local, national or international level.

Structure
The Federation consists of 22 Romanian associations and foundations, focused on persons with diabetes [see members here]. It is led by a Management Board of seven representatives [see board members here]. The members meet once a year and the Management Board presents the activity report and the plans for the new period. Our partners
FADR is working with national institutions (The Ministry of Health, The National Health Insurance House, The Ministry of Labor), local administrations (county and city administrations), private businesses, other non governmental organizations from Romania and foreign.
